Picked this up from the Electronics Weekly email:

How to build your own Geiger Counter

The detector Al points us to measures alpha, beta and gamma radiation. Does the detector from radioactive@home measure all three types or is it limited to just gamma. My understanding is that the radiation around the Fukushima reactors is primarily alpha radiation, yes?

I've been expecting more Japanese crunchers to join or inquire about radioactive@home. Would it be worth advertising R@H in the Japanese language on Japanese media, blogs, etc.? I guess if the R@K detector measures only gamma and the radiation around Fukushima is primarily alpha then they wouldn't be very interested.

At least in theory, because on the photo it looks like there's a SBM-20 or similat tube installed.

There are other groups connecting radiation detectors to their PCs.

Amateur Radio Astronomers, has a membership interested in Cosmic and Gamma Rays. You might try reaching out to that group to see about sharing data efforts.

Having scientific instruments at home is addicting.
