Might be an idea to fix the validator that's been down for 2 weeks before expecting anyone to show much interest. Just saying.

Definitely interested as long as I can get one in the States.

Firstly, I just would like to know, how many people are interested, then get quote from few companies who can assembly it for me (price).

It will be same (or very similar) detector as in last version. It will be powered by USB port from computer, not water resistant.

I'm interested too but a total noob. This is for indoor use only? What are the requirements? Full PC? Raspberry pi? Or is it standalone?

It works with booth - Windows, Linux systems and on both platforms - x86 and ARM. Thank you for the info Purple Air has a really nice clean interface for their sensors. Can we get something like this? They seem to be using OSM too. https://www.purpleair.com/map?#11.22/34.0222/-118.2332

Are there any special requirements for setting up the detectors/calibrating that require other materials we need to purchase? Are there any potential issues shipping to US because of components?
ID: 3732 | Rating: 0 | rate: / Reply Quote
We will update map to OSM, but I don't know how it will look like after update ;)

I responded to the survey/poll that I was interested. I'll take as many as 5 depending on what the shipping costs are. Any idea the of package weight, dimensions of package, shipping company and city shipping from so we can estimate the shipping costs?

I responded to the survey/poll that I was interested. I'll take as many as 5 depending on what the shipping costs are. Any idea the of package weight, dimensions of package, shipping company and city shipping from so we can estimate the shipping costs? The detector is 23cm x 5cm x5cm and it weight is less then 100gr. Package will be of course bigger as device must be secured but weight not change very much. All details (including shipping cost) I will provide when I get a quotes from manufacturers and I confirm when all of them come to me... ____________ Regards, Krzysztof 'krzyszp' Piszczek Android Radioactive@Home Map Android Radioactive@Home Map - donated My Workplace

I too am interested in at least one. Please let us know if there are any discounts for ordering multiples on the same order. (I'm in the USA) There will be definitely "discount" in shipping cost, but the detector price will be same for all countries/order sizes and as low as possible. I will only charge about 5-7% above manufacturer price to be prepared for replace faulty pieces and other warranty stuff... ____________ Regards, Krzysztof 'krzyszp' Piszczek Android Radioactive@Home Map Android Radioactive@Home Map - donated My Workplace

... research in commercial detectors - maybe for similar price ... Ryszard Korczyk probably will sell some "end-of-line" detectors made by him in past. It will be around 80-100pcs in really better price :) I hope this is resolved relatively soon. And please, when you have decided what course you will take, put a note which will show in the boinc manager's Notices tab. Thanks Lászlo Pallos, PhD ____________

Will you be doing the same as last time where there was a cut off date to order by? That way you know the numbers of detectors to order and it also guarantees people who have shown prior interest/ordered will get a device.

... there are only three detectors within over a 900 kilometer radius; True for Radioactive@home, but there are detectors in the Atlanta area on Radmon.org and Netc.com.

Thanks for this info. Yes, there are two in metro Atlanta on Netc.com You need to prepare a few pieces of information before you start.note: "before you start." they have a pic of a Geiger counter on their site: but it does not show as img: https://radmon.org/images/mygeiger_mw0uzo_small.jpg I've done some searching, but I find to way to buy a detector from Radmon.org. Do you know if one can?

I would definitely want to purchase and setup an internet-broadcast-capable radioactivity detector, for use in USA (Washington State - Home of the Hanford reactor, among others). Please consider me, "interested", until the units you specify for use to broadcast to RADIOACTIVE@HOME become available (with a final unit shipping price to USA - Zipcode 98382). If the total price is right, consider me, "committed." I have a Geiger meter already, but I don't believe that it features a "data-out" port... After long time I will like to order from professional company a set of around 100-150 detectors...
ID: 3856 | Rating: 0 | rate: / Reply Quote
Now here's a good idea! I wouldn't mind paying a little extra for the quicker shipping/affirmation that the device(s) cleared customs without any issues! If krzyszp approves the idea and ships all of the U.S.-bound detectors to one person in the U.S. (as long as he trusts/has complete confidence that this person will keep his word), I would actually want to purchase 3 (three) units, total (a couple back-ups never hurt). Again, if krzyszp is kosher with such an idea, as well, it would be simple for me to PayPal the appropriate funds to someone residing in the U.S. Anyone else's thoughts on the matter? I would be happy to handle bulk shipments to the USA in order to take advantage of cheaper shipping costs from Poland, then ship cheap or Flat Rate Priority here from USA. Once here, I can ship flat rate 2 day priority for $8 anywhere in USA.

With the new customs tariffs, if they are built and shipped from China that could add another 30 to 40 USD to price. If there is don't have it shipped by UPS.

And this project seemed interesting. However, I have been unable to find definitive info to allow me to order a detector. Could you please let me know where to look to place my order. Hello. I'm also new to this project. After being involved with SETI for the past 20 years and it is ramping down, I would like to continue using my computers with BOINC for science. And this project seemed interesting. Could you please let me know where to look to place my order? I would like 2 sensors, please.

The project Administrators need to shit or get off the pot and hand over the project to people who actually want to do something with it. Anyone who see this who would like to join me in taking this project over, contact me. I have already contacted Krzysztof 'krzyszp' Piszczek, and the former project manager, but all efforts were to the wind, as expected, no response. They have abandoned the project. my belief is that they should at least hand off the project to a group of people who want to see the project succeed, why just abandon a project and let no one else enjoy it because they don't "feel" like doing it anymore...

First, krzyszp has been ill and was hospitalized late last year and I imagine he is working to get his life on course again. Second, there has always been a high demand for sensors for this project. It takes a great deal of time to have a batch built, tested and distributed. I was patient, paid attention to the project and was able to buy a few for myself and other friends when the last batch was build in 2019. Be patient or build your own. There are instructions and plans available somewhere. Finally, the project admins are volunteers also and real life priorities to deal with above these projects. If you think you can do better, start your own project.

I ordered the sensor on Amazon.de on March 28, 2021 and it was delivered to me on March 30, 2021. Today I connected the sensor to a PC with Win10 64bit. First, I downloaded USB drivers and GMC DataViewer from the manufacturer's website to detect the correct COM port. The connection of the sensor to the PC itself was without a problem and after a while the first task in BOINC started to be processed.

Windows only. Here is a zip file with the extra files and instructions to make it work. The 2 important things are: Yeah well whatever it takes to get this thing to run right is obviously above my pay grades, it merrily clicks away & shows #CPM's on the dsplay but still no credit so something isn't right. Device manager shows COM 7 & the GMC-320 shows COM 7 ... It's a Windows 11 Pro Laptop is that has any bearing on it ... Heartbeat started.. Realtime monitoring started. it merrily clicks away. ... You can disable the Buzzer (that's how it's called at this Website) in the Preferences settings, but that only works once you get a WU or if the Feeder is running at all - can't say exactly right now, as mine is continuing to click, even if i manually update the project every few seconds. Messages tell me Feeder isn't running, so no new WU at the moment. But even if the Feeder will run again somewhen, you might get Mails or Messages within BOINC saying that the Location of your Sensor isn't set. I tried to set it maybe hundred times but it fails every time. One of my Sensors has a correct Location set, the other one doesn't and i keep getting notifications for that one's location. Furthermore, it looks as if the input fields are reversed. Latitude and longitude have to be entered the other way round than you are used to.
