| Description | Google Talk? What is this? Is Google getting in on the net telephone phenomenon? Yes they are! The search giant now supplies a beta version download of Google Talk at no-charge. http://www.google.com/talk/ Google Talk allows users to IM or make calls on the Internet using a PC, speakers and microphone, again; free. The new Google pc software may be downloaded by a person with Windows 2000 system or later. Obviously it is possible to only call or IM other people who have saved the Google Talk application. Both parties must have a Gmail account to log onto the Google Talk messenger. People who don't have a cell-phone will need to have some-one with an account send a Gmail request. Google has made it relatively easy to add people to the contacts set of the messenger. There is no limit for the variety of users one can have on their contact list. With that being said, I made a decision to give Google Talk a spin myself. The UI is easy to use and understand, with Internet contacting, instant messaging, email, and needless to say, Google search. You can find no ad's to litter the Interface, which is stimulating. The consumer control's again are fairly cut and dry, it's somewhat plain looking, however; this for me add's to it's simplicity. Other than a lack of ad's, the one thing new about that is the fact it's from Google. All in all, Google Talk is just a very good messenger. If you've a distaste for banner ad's or pop up's each and every time you start your messenger, 'H' Talk should really be a welcome change of speed.. |
