I run a post directory on my site, and I am seeing an increasing number of articles being submitted, solely for the backlink provided in the Resource Box. This is probably due to the increasing variety of PLR articles and material that's becoming available.

Today, there is not necessarily something wrong with this, I only think that authors who are doing this are passing up on possible traffic and/or clients. Browse here at per your request to check up where to do this concept. Such source boxes is only going to benefit their site ranks in incoming links that are valued by any search engine.

Is this a bad thing? No. Where they are losing out is as follows.

Much of the traffic to my post listing comes from search engines, by people trying to find information on a certain topic. Now, this user types within their key words, clicks on the search box, and is given a list of related sites. They chose one, and are taken to the author's article. They browse the article about, say, snowboarding, feel 'This is interesting' and go to the author's reference box at the end of-the article to see what else they have to say on this subject. There, they find a link to some site marketing portable ringtones. May be the audience going to be impressed, or interested in this? Not very likely. They would like to find out about snowboarding, perhaps not modify their phone. In my opinion among three things will happen then:

The reader leaves the entire site in disgust. Should you desire to dig up new information on Forum, we know of millions of online libraries you should think about pursuing.

The viewer clicks on a link to some relevant report.

The viewer clicks on a relevant Google Ad-sense (or similar contextual promotion) offer.

They don't click the author's source link. That's a potential consumer lost, quite probably permanently.

Yes, put a link in to your site in the reference package, but many article directories let several links, therefore for goodness sake put a link in that' ;s related to the article subject also, and preferably put it in first, before you lose the consumer.

'But my site doesn't have any such thing regarding that issue on it'!

Then add something which does. Include an article listing, and have the source package saying 'To learn more articles on this issue, go here.' Add a web directory, and have the text say 'To look at links to web sites on this subject, go here.' Or simply go to Click-bank, look for related jobs, and have a link to them, with the link saying something similar to 'If you want to find out more on this subject, obtain this item.' Ultimately, not just a direct url to the product, but a cloaked or redirected one.

By doing this, you still get that url to your site that you were after initially, but, also, you have the opportunity to earn money from the reader in a fresh way. A win-win situation. Plus, you do not look like somebody basically submitting purchased content on any matter just for the sake of the backlink it'll give you. An infinitely more professional look.
