I was wondering, since the goal is to make a worldwide 24/7 gamma detector network, will the sensors be powerful enough to detect gamma ray bursts, or is there no way to distinguish those from gamma radiation from terrestrial sources?

Sensors detects gamma radiation without distinguishing of the source.

The atmosphere is opaque to gamma rays, you must climb over 60 km to detect GRB. GRB and even the TGFs, was discovered by a satellite: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gamma-ray_burst http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terrestrial_gamma-ray_flashes so think that the sensors will detect only terrestrial sources.
