Hi, I've built my sensor kit and plugged it in, it seems to be working ok and has now completed two tasks, both validated ok, but no credit, and when I try to add my sensor to the map it just takes me to a "Your computers" summary page, there doesn't seem to be a way to add my sensor to the map?
If I look at the completed tasks, there does seem to be a lot of error messages like this :

Thanks. I've followed these instructions, but it goes wrong at the point where I click on details - there is no map, just some details about my computer. I've sent a message to Szopler to see if he has any ideas. In the meantime, I've put some photos together of my kit being built (and yours, Euphoriabuzz!) :

So, I have built two of the v2.61 kits now. One is with Euphoriabuzz, who has it plugged in to a Windows PC and it's working fine and clocking up credits. Mine however, while seeming to work and completing work units which are validated as success, gives me no credits. The only difference I can see is that mine is plugged in to a Linux PC. Is anyone else using Linux Mint 17.1 and did you have to do anything special to get yours to give credits? I so want to put my detector on the map, but it seems you have to get credits first, I just get "Map 0" and it won't let me add my detector (and no, I'm not buying a copy of Windows just to run this!) :-(

Krzysztof, the forum search tool defaults to only 30 days, and allows up to 1 year under Advanced search. If this Linux advice is over a year old, it might as well be not not there if there is no board/thread name to find it manually. Is there a way for admins (you or BOINC admins) to allow searches over 1 year back, and to default it to 1 year?

Thank you to Euphoriabuzz and Krzysztof Piszczek in particular for your suggestions. It was a permissions problem - the Boinc client runs under its own userid of "boinc", which has to be added to group plugdev to be allowed access to the usb ports, and ALSO have a rule set up in /etc/udev/rules.d to give it read/write access to the usb port (i.e. mode 666).

Just a thought: why is the 2.61 sensor not mentioned in 'sensors.xml'?

I think sensors.xml is maintained by the OS, you can't edit it (well, you can, but it rebuilds it itself, as you found out). Sounds more like the OS has lost touch with the sensor for some reason (see messages at end of your last task which worked). I would try unplugging it and putting it back in first, then if that doesn't work reboot the system. If it still doesn't work, I think it might be something to do with slots, Euphoriabuzz had a similar problem and I can't remember what the solution was, but will have a look back through the forums & check.
